Japanese Word for Talent and Related Words
We use Japanese word “才能(さいのう-sainou)” for translating English word “Talent” into Japanese. I showed this Japanese word image on the left side of this page.
The Kanji letter “才(さい-sai)” has meaning of ability and we have several words which include this character in them . Followings are some example; “才媛(さいえん-saien)”, “才女(さいじょ-saijo)”, “天才(てんさい-tensai)”, “秀才(しゅうさい-shuusai)” and “異才(いさい-isai)” etc.
The words “才媛” and “才女” are same meaning words and mean “Talented Girl” or “Talented Lady”. And the word “天才” means “Genius”, the word “秀才” means “Talented Person” or “Clever Student”. And the word “異才” means “(a man of) Exceptional Talent” or “Exceptionally Talented (person)”.
