In Japan we use a word “歌(うた-uta)” for translating English word “Song” into Japanese. I showed this Japanese word image on the left side of this page.
And we have a few other similar meaning words in Japan such as “唄(うた-uta)”, “唱歌(しょうか-shouka)”, “歌曲(かきょく-kakyoku)” and “歌謡(かよう-kayou)” etc. These words have almost same meanings but often used differently depend on the situations.
I think the most popular word for song is “歌” in Japan and the word “歌手(かしゅ-kashu)” means “Singer”.
