Japanese Words for Blessing and Related Words
We use Japanese word “祝福(しゅくふく-shukufuku)” for translating English word “Blessing” into Japanese. I showed this Japanese word image on the left side of this page.
The first Kanji “祝” has meaning of “Celebrate” or “Congratulate” and the second Kanji “福” has meaning of “Good Fortune”.
And we have a few similar meaning words which are also occasionally used when we translate the English word “Blessing” into Japanese. The following words are some examples;
“恵み(めぐみ-megumi)”, “恩恵(おんけい-onkei)(main meaning is “Benefit”)”, and “加護(かご-kago)(main meaning is “Divine Protection”)” etc.
