Japanese Word Images for the Word Calligraphy
I showed a Japanese Word image for the Word Calligraphy on left side of this page. This word “書道(しょどう-shodou)” is used for translating the English word “Calligraphy” into Japanese. The word “書体(しょたい-shotai)” means “Font” or “Calligraphic Font” so this word often used for translating “Calligraphy” into Japanese.
In Japan we use mainly three writing styles; “楷書(かいしょ-kaisho)”, “行書(ぎょうしょ-gyousho)” and “草書(そうしょ-sousho)”. All of the Japanese words of this page are “楷書” style ones. The “草書” is translated as “Cursive Script” in English. The “行書” writing style is more cursive than “楷書” but less cursive than “草書” styles.
