The word “Psychic” is translated in several ways in Japan such as “霊魂の(れいこんの – reikonno)”, “超自然の(ちょうしぜんの – choushizenno)” or “心霊的な(しんれいてきな – shinreitekina)” etc. And also this word is translated for indicating the person who has super-natunal power. In this case we translate this word as “霊能者(れいのうしゃ – reinousha)” or “超能力者(ちょうのうりょくしゃ – chounouryokusha)” etc.
The Japanese Kanji “霊” has meaning of “spirit” or “ghost” and the kanji “魂” has a meaning of “soul”. And the Kanji “超” has a meaning of “super” and the “自然” means “nature or natural”. (The Japanese kanji word “心霊” means “spirit”.)
And we use these words like the following examples.
- “彼は霊能者で、死者と会話ができる(kare ha reinousha de, shisha to kaiwa ga dekiru).” – He is a psychic and can talk with dead mans.
- “私は何でも透視の出来る超能力者です(watashi ha nandemo toushino dekiru chounoryokusha desu).” – I’m a psychic who can see-through anything.
