Flower Names in Japanese Characters 2

February 18th, 2012 · No Comments

In this post I added a few other popular flowers such as Lily, Rose and Dandelion etc.

As you can see in the following list, we write 椿 for Camellia which blooms flowers through winter to spring season. So the left side of this Japanese Kanji椿is "木(き-ki) " which means tree, and the right side is 春(はる-haru) which mean Spring season.

We write勿忘草for Forget-Me-Not. The meaning of this Kanji name is same as English name.

The Kanji meaning of 向is direction, 日 means the sun and 葵 is a kind of flower name. So the Japanese naming for Sunflower is similar to English naming for this flower.

The Japanese name of Dogwood "花水木" is often used as Japnese restaurant name in USA.

百合 is the one of most popularly used flower name as girl’s name in Japan.
